I do not know what happened to drive Liem into Zenith's embrace, but I know enough of Ruby and Gen's motives.

[ Hayame had dedicated Liem's death to him, after all. She had taken the violence she had done, and passed it onto him to share.

He does prickle, at the mere suggestion that others within Zenith might not be looking after them — that all three of them are alone in a crowded room — !! ]

I will see to them myself, if I must. They will not languish alone, even if they come to DARE think they can exist apart from me!
